Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Kompas Georgia (the "App", Android package ge.kompas.app) and the associated website kompas.ge (collectively, the "Service") handle information.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Business directory content (public)

The Service displays publicly available information about businesses in Georgia: name, category, address, phone, website, social media, photographs, working hours, and user reviews. This information is gathered from public sources and stored in our database. It is shown to all visitors without any login.

1.2 Account information

If you create an account to leave a review, we collect only:

• Email address (for authentication)
• Password (stored as a hash — never in plain text)
• Display name (optional, you choose it yourself)

Authentication is handled by Supabase GoTrue running on our own infrastructure. We do not share account data with third parties.

1.3 User-generated content

Reviews and photographs you post are stored alongside your display name and shown publicly on the business profile. You can request deletion of your reviews by contacting us.

1.4 Analytics (mobile app only, opt-in)

The mobile app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how people use the app. Collection is disabled by default. On first launch you are asked to accept or decline; you can change your choice at any time in Settings → "Anonymous statistics".

When enabled, we collect:

• Screen views (which pages are opened)
• App events: opening a company card, searching, selecting a category, submitting a review, adding to favorites
• Automatic events: first open, session duration, app crashes
• Anonymous device info: OS version, device model, language, country
• An anonymous installation ID (Firebase Installation ID)

We do not collect:

• Your name, email, or any personal identifier
• Precise location (GPS)
• Contacts, messages, photos, or any content outside the app
• Advertising identifiers

Data is stored by Google in accordance with the Firebase privacy policy and retained for up to 14 months.

1.5 Favorites (local only)

The list of favorite companies in the mobile app is stored only on your device (SharedPreferences). It is never sent to any server.

2. How we use the information

• Provide and improve the directory and app
• Authenticate your account so you can leave reviews
• Aggregate anonymous statistics (opt-in) to prioritize features
• Prevent spam and abuse

3. Third-party services

• Supabase (self-hosted on our VPS) — database, authentication, storage
• MinIO (self-hosted) — photo storage
• Google Analytics for Firebase — analytics (opt-in, mobile app only)
• OpenStreetMap — map tiles on company cards

We do not sell or rent your data to anyone. We do not use advertising networks.

4. Your rights

You can at any time:

• Turn off analytics in the mobile app (Settings → "Anonymous statistics")
• Request deletion of your account and reviews by contacting us
• Request a copy of the data we hold about you

5. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any data from them.

6. Security

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS. Passwords are stored as salted hashes. Only anonymized analytics data (with a randomly generated installation ID) leaves the device.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent changes. Material changes will be announced in the app.
